Those are both good ways of looking at it - I'll definitely think about it.
I'm also considering having her 'wake up' a little to her actions during the book, because of being trapped by one of her own wishes - she was simply convinced that the man she was offering it to was so straightforward and naive she'd have no problem manipulating his wish, and didn't take any precautions - and he wished that she would 'stay with him', because he'd fallen in love with her. She managed to bend that to 'stay in this world', but is stuck and gets really, really angry at him.
And yeah... I can definitely see how she could have deluded herself into viewing it as 'It's not like I'm not giving them what they want, so it's not bad' and that kind of thing. Thanks for the suggestions.
